GoFundMe Launched to Celebrate Life of Joseph ‘Joey’ Dorminey, Victim of Fatal Little Caesars Shooting in Lee County; Community Rallies Around Family

A GoFundMe page has been launched to celebrate the life of Joseph “Joey” Dorminey, the victim of a fatal shooting at a Little Caesars in Lee County, Georgia, on Friday, May 3. The page was created by Anthony King, a close friend of Dorminey, with the goal of raising $8,000 to help defray the costs of a celebration of life and support Dorminey’s family, particularly his sister.

As of May 5, the GoFundMe page has already raised $3,620, with donations pouring in from friends, family, and community members who were touched by Joey’s life. The fundraiser’s description reads, “A celebration of a life that truly needs to be celebrated. If you would like to contribute to help defray the cost, please use this link. Your donation is greatly appreciated, and any extra amounts raised will be given to his sister.”

Joey Dorminey’s tragic death has sent shockwaves through the community, with friends and family members taking to social media to share their memories and pay tribute to his life. “Joey was a kind and caring person who always put others before himself,” wrote one friend. “He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”

According to reports, the shooting incident occurred at the Little Caesars on Highway 82 in Leesburg, Georgia, at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3. Joey was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

As the community comes together to support the Dorminey family, friends and family members will share their memories and pay tribute to Joey’s life on WALB’s 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts. “Joey was a beloved member of our community, and his loss will be deeply felt,” said a family friend. “We are grateful for the outpouring of support and love from everyone who knew him.”

The GoFundMe page will remain open for donations, and all contributions will go towards celebrating Joey’s life and supporting his loved ones during this difficult time. “We are grateful for any contribution, big or small,” said Anthony King, the creator of the GoFundMe page. “Every donation will help us honor Joey’s memory and support his family.”

In addition to the GoFundMe page, a candlelight vigil is being planned for Friday, May 10, at 7 p.m. at the Lee County Courthouse. The vigil will be an opportunity for friends, family, and community members to come together and pay their respects to Joey’s life.

As the community continues to mourn the loss of Joey Dorminey, the GoFundMe page and candlelight vigil are just two ways to honor his memory and support his loved ones. “Joey may be gone, but he will never be forgotten,” wrote one friend. “We will always remember his kind heart and his infectious smile.”
