The identity of the person who was engaged in the deadly collision that took place on Friday morning and resulted in a vehicle being submerged in the Intracoastal Waterway has been made public by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
According to ALEA, Brooks H. Kaechele, who is 21 years old and is from Elberta, was the individual who was affected by the incident that occurred at approximately 1:23 a.m. on May 3.
What happened to Brooks Kaechele?
During the incident, a Mitsubishi Eclipse from 2008 was involved. According to the American Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the vehicle went off the road and collided with a guardrail, multiple traffic signs, trees, a wooden deck, a boardwalk, and boardwalk poles. During the time of the accident, Kaechele was not wearing a seatbelt, as stated in the press release.
Crash Initial Report
The initial report claimed that Orange Beach Police Officers responded to Cumberland Farms, located at 23679 Canal Road in Orange Beach, Alabama, on Friday, May 3, 2024, for a report of a car striking a pedestrian.
The suspect vehicle was recognized by a witness just as the officers who were responding arrived on the scene. A traffic stop for the purpose of conducting an investigation was attempted by the OBPD; however, the car escaped west on Canal Road.
At the point when the suspect reached an excessive speed, the officer who was chasing him kept engaged at a safe distance in an effort to maintain his eyes on the car. A collision occurred as a result of the suspect vehicle’s inability to successfully navigate the 90-degree turn at Tacky Jacks in Gulf Shores.
Investigation Ongoing
The vehicle came to a stop in the Intracoastal Waterway while it was submerged underwater. It was possible for the officers to identify the lights of the vehicle while it was submerged in water, and they entered the vehicle in an effort to save the driver, but they were unsuccessful. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is conducting an investigation into the collision at this time.
