On Friday, authorities reported that a tragic accident occurred near Montgomery on Sunday, resulting in the loss of two lives and leaving another individual injured.
The incident took place around 11:30 p.m. when Jerad E. Swartz, a 32-year-old resident of Roanoke, Virginia, was driving a 2006 Scion XB.
Swartz’s vehicle collided head-on with a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu on State Route 110, approximately five miles east of Montgomery.
According to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Joshua Thompson, both Swartz and a passenger in the Malibu, 31-year-old Jalisa L. Smart-Haynes from Union Springs, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The injured victim was promptly taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for medical treatment. As state troopers continue their investigation, no further information is currently available.
