Richard Carroll Death – An individual was fatally shot on Saturday on a road in front of a residential area, as reported by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to Wellstar MCG Health in Augusta after receiving information that a man had been taken to the emergency room with a gunshot wound.
The incident took place early Saturday at the intersection of Sage Creek Boulevard and Bettis Academy Road in Graniteville, near the Graniteville Community Bible Church and Leavelle McCampbell Middle School.
The deceased has been identified as Richard Carroll, a 23-year-old male, by Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables.
Carroll was pronounced dead at the hospital around 2:30 a.m. and his autopsy will be performed in Newberry. Authorities have stated that details are scarce at this point.
The Aiken County Coroner’s Office, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia, and the Augusta University Police Department are assisting in the investigation.
