It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic news of the passing of two beloved brothers from Gloucester County, John A. Mahoney and Patrick J. Mahoney, both aged 23 and from Sewell.
The brothers lost their lives in a devastating crash involving their 2010 Toyota Yaris and a 2024 Ford F-250. The accident occurred on Tuesday, just after 11 a.m., in the area of Union Road / Mays Landing Road, according to Vineland police.
The collision happened when the Mahoneys’ vehicle cut into the path of the pickup truck. The driver of the Ford, an 81-year-old man from Millville, was airlifted to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
John and Patrick Mahoney were graduates of Washington Township High School, Class of 2019. Both pursued higher education at Rutgers University, where they each earned their bachelor’s degrees between 2021 and 2023.
John A. Mahoney was a cherished son of John and Jennifer (nee Brogan), and the beloved grandson of Mary Brogan and the late Donald Brogan, and Jack Mahoney and the late Patricia Mahoney. He was loved by his aunts and uncles, Don and Kristen Brogan, Patti Mahoney, Suzanne and Chuck Hunt, and Joanna Brogan.
He will be missed by his cousins Rachel Tucker (Jim), Connor, Jack, Alicia Brogan, Maggie, and Corey Hunt. John was passionate about politics and social justice and earned the nickname “Hippie John” in high school.
