Danilo Aguero Death
In the 7200 block of Sunshine Skyway Lane South, St. Petersburg police officers promptly arrived at the location of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Tragically, one man lost his life in the incident.
According to the police, their initial investigation indicates that the victim, identified as 83-year-old Danilo Aguero Tamayo from St. Petersburg, was struck by a blue Honda CRV while crossing Sunshine Skyway Lane South.
After the collision, the victim was immediately transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Fortunately, the driver of the Honda remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Following the crash, both directions of Sunshine Skyway Lane South were temporarily closed for the purpose of the investigation. However, they have since been reopened.
It is important to note that this incident did not take place on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge itself. Sunshine Skyway Lane South is a roadway located on the southern end of the city, east of Interstate 275. It provides access to various condominium and townhouse communities situated north of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.
