Gavin Barmore Obituary – A teenager from Rutland lost his life in a car accident that occurred early Sunday morning, resulting in two other teenagers sustaining serious injuries.
The Vermont State Police were alerted to a single-vehicle crash on Notch Road in Mendon just before 6 a.m. The investigation revealed that the 2000 Jetta Volkswagen was traveling northwest when it veered off the road and struck a tree.
The authorities are still looking into the circumstances that led to the Jetta leaving the road. The driver, identified as Gavin Barmore of Rutland, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other passengers, a 19-year-old man from Chittenden and an 18-year-old man from Rutland, were transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for treatment of their serious injuries.
Various emergency response teams, including Rutland City Police, Rutland City Fire Department, and Regional Ambulance Service, were present at the scene to assist the state police.
