Gene Walker Sioux Falls, SD Death: Maintenance Mechanic at Tillamook County Creamery Association died on March 26

Gene Walker has passed away suddenly. He was confirmed dead on March 26th, 2024 following certain reports released on social media, According to reports reaching the public at this time, he died with his wife, daughter, and sister by his side. The general public is urged to keep the whole family of Gene in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this sad and difficult time of grief.

Gene Walker Life and Career

Although Gene spent his whole childhood in Tillamook, he attended Tillamook High School and graduated with the class of 1968. He then went on to serve his nation in the United States Navy aboard the USS Oklahoma City from 1968 to 1972. He was stationed in Japan, and it was there that he met Etsuko, the woman who would become the love of his life.

Their wedding took place on July 31st, 1972. Following their return from Japan, Gene and Etsuko made their home in Tillamook. This July, they would have celebrated 52 years of marriage that they had shared together. There was just one daughter, Lisa, who passed away before Gene. His father, Peter Walker Jr., and his mother, MaryLu (Burbank) Hendon, also passed away before him.

Gene had a strong work ethic and put forth a lot of effort as a result. His final job was as a Maintenance Mechanic at the Tillamook County Creamery Association, where he worked for many years. Having worked for sixteen years, he finally retired in 2011. During his retirement, he enjoyed activities such as hunting, fishing, camping, collecting coins, and working around his land. Being able to call himself a “papa” was one of the most significant joys of Gene’s life.

Not only did he like spending time with his granddaughter, but he also made it a habit to phone her every night to chat to her. Since the news of his death surfaced, many have not hesitated to share their heartfelt condolences with the family of Gene Walker also paying tribute to him in recently released statements.

On the Saturday, June 8th, 2024, at two o’clock in the afternoon, there will be a celebration of life held at Gene’s house. The event is a barbecue potluck, which is an informal celebration. Be it family, friends, or former workplace, etc.
