Darris C. Moore Obituary: St. Louis man identified as body discovered in Mississippi River

Earlier this month, the body of a man was found in the Mississippi River in Ste. Genevieve County. County authorities confirmed on Monday that the man was from St. Louis.

According to Major Jason Schott, the chief deputy of the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office, employees at the Tower Rock Stone quarry spotted a body floating in the river at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1. The workers recovered the body and took it to Little Rock Landing.

The sheriff’s office and county coroner retrieved the body for further examination. The deceased was identified as Darris C. Moore, a 23-year-old from St. Louis. Investigators estimate that Moore’s body had been in the river for one to two weeks.

The cause of death has not been disclosed.
