Tan Zhu; Fat Cat Chinese male gamer died by suicide on April 11

A 21-year-old Chinese male gamer identified as “Fat Cat” leaped from the Shibanpo Yangtze River Bridge at 4:00 AM on 11 April 2024.

Through the smartphone game Honor of Kings, he was introduced to Tan Zhu in the year 2022. Over and over again, Tan Zhu made many requests to Fat Cat for money transfers, using a variety of excuses.

Games that Fat Cat played for other people (also known as “game boosting”) were the major source of cash for Fat Cat. Chat records indicate that Fat Cat and Tan Zhu had reached an agreement to be married in the month of May 2024.

But Tan Zhu ended his relationship with Fat Cat in April 2024, citing the fact that he “could not provide her with emotional value” as the reason for his decision. In an effort to save the relationship, Fat Cat went all the way from Hunan to Chongqing. However, Tan Zhu did not agree to his proposal of living together under the same roof.

Tan Zhu received the remaining RMB 66,000 that Fat Cat had sent to him before he went from the Shibanpo Yangtze River Bridge in Chongqing that was located in China. Over the course of two years, Fat Cat reportedly sent Tan Zhu a total of RMB 510,000 over the internet. This information was provided by Fat Cat’s relatives.

Twelve days later, the corpse of Fat Cat was discovered. Immediately after the occurrence, Tan Zhu issued a public apology for her conduct and stated her remorse for them.

In addition, she refuted the assertion that Fat Cat had transfered RMB 510,000 to her monetary account. In the aftermath of the event, Tan Zhu and Fat Cat’s father came to an arrangement that Fat Cat would pay RMB 130,000 in compensation to Tan Zhu.

On the other hand, Fat Cat’s sister found out that the exact amount was RMB 510,000 after recalculating the entire amount that was exchanged between the two of them.

Following that, she uploaded a video to the internet, which revealed the inconsistency, so bringing the incident to the notice of a large number of people. The cremation of Fat Cat’s corpse took place on May 3rd, 2024.
