Rueben Ziemer Obituary
On the 26th of April, 2024, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) promptly responded to a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Platte Ave. and Academy Blvd.
As per CSPD, the officers who arrived at the scene discovered that a man had been riding a scooter in an easterly direction on Platte Ave.
when he was struck by a vehicle that immediately fled. Tragically, the man on the scooter was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deceased individual has been identified by the El Paso County Coroner as Rueben Ziemer, a 51-year-old. CSPD has reported that the driver of the fleeing vehicle was identified the day following the incident as Andrew Bjornstad, a 33-year-old.
He has since been apprehended and charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death.
