Tragic End to Search for Missing 2-Year-Old Anna Mandanda: Body Found in Southwest Side Pond, Indianapolis Police Investigate Circumstances Surrounding Toddler’s Death

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) has ended its search for 2-year-old Anna Mandanda, who was reported missing on May 4, 2024, after investigators found a female toddler’s body in a pond near her last known location.

Anna was first reported missing from the 6900 block of Governors Point Boulevard around 3 p.m. Saturday, in a residential area on the southwest side, near Southport Road and Interstate 69. The IMPD described her as 3 feet tall, 35 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

The IMPD launched an extensive search for Anna, canvassing the neighborhood and asking residents with security cameras or Ring doorbells to check their footage for any sign of the missing toddler. Despite their efforts, investigators found a body in a pond near Anna’s last known location late Saturday night.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will positively identify the body, but the IMPD has confirmed that the search for Anna has been ended. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance and death are still under investigation.

The IMPD is working to determine why and how Anna went missing, and investigators are reviewing security footage and conducting interviews with neighbors and family members. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the IMPD Missing Persons Unit at 317-327-6160.

The tragic end to the search for Anna has left the community in shock and grief, with many expressing condolences to her family and loved ones. The IMPD is committed to investigating the circumstances surrounding her death and ensuring justice for Anna and her family.

As the investigation continues, the IMPD is urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or information that may aid in their investigation. The community is coming together to support Anna’s family during this difficult time.

In memory of Anna Mandanda, may her story serve as a reminder of the importance of community and the need for continued support and vigilance in ensuring the safety and well-being of our children.
