The California Highway Patrol reported that a tragic incident occurred in Tulare County, resulting in the death of a man. The collision took place on Highway 99, north of Betty Drive, when a driver was traveling in the wrong direction.
The authorities received a call about the wrong-way driver around 3:10 a.m. on Wednesday. Upon arrival, officers found a two-vehicle crash caused by the driver going in the opposite direction.
The driver, identified as Saul Saldana Armenta from Fresno, was driving a 2015 Dodge Charger southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 99. He collided with a 2022 Honda Civic driven by a 21-year-old man from Porterville, who tragically lost his life in the accident.
Armenta was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, with alcohol believed to be a contributing factor. The investigation into this devastating incident is still ongoing.
