It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Trevor Coates, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. On November 16, 2010, Trevor bid farewell to this world in Westbank, BC, after a valiant battle with Dementia. At the age of 82, he left behind a legacy of love, hard work, and compassion that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to the caregivers at the Village at Smith Creek for their exceptional care and compassion during Trevor’s final days. Their dedication provided comfort and support, making his journey more peaceful. In accordance with Trevor’s wishes, no formal service will be held. However, a celebration of his life will be announced at a later date, providing an opportunity for family and friends to come together and remember the joyous moments shared with Trevor.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Canadian Dementia Action Network. This gesture not only honors Trevor’s memory but also contributes to the ongoing efforts to address and raise awareness about dementia—a cause that became deeply personal for him in his later years. As we reflect on Trevor Coates’ life, we remember a man whose kindness, work ethic, and love for family defined him. May his spirit live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and may his legacy continue to inspire acts of love and compassion in the face of life’s challenges. In our collective grief, we find solace in the memories of a life well-lived.
