Tragic Wyoming Murder-Suicide: Mother, Tranyelle Harshman, Shoots Four Daughters, Killing Three, Before Turning Gun on Herself; Community Rallies Around Grieving Father and Surviving Child
A devastating murder-suicide shook the small town of Lovell, Wyoming, on Monday, leaving a community in mourning and a family forever changed. The sheriff’s office received a 911 call from Tranyelle Harshman herself, reporting that her daughters had been shot. Tragically, Tranyelle Harshman informed the dispatcher that she intended to kill herself, despite the dispatcher’s repeated pleas for her to remain on the line until help arrived. The call eventually disconnected, and responding officers from the sheriff’s department and local law enforcement arrived at the scene within minutes.
Upon entering the residence, officers found two children, aged 2 and 9, who had died from gunshot wounds to the head. Two other children, a 2-year-old and a 7-year-old, had similar injuries but were still alive. Tranyelle Harshman was located in an upstairs bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head, yet remained alive.
Sadly, the 2-year-old who was initially found alive later succumbed to her injuries. Both the surviving child, 7-year-old Olivia, and Tranyelle Harshman were taken to North Big Horn Hospital for further treatment. Olivia was later transferred to a hospital in Salt Lake City, where she remains in a sedated state but is responsive to some stimulation.
