A devastating hit-and-run incident occurred near Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth on Wednesday evening, resulting in the tragic loss of life of 43-year-old Benjamin Samad. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) has launched an investigation into the crash and has identified a potential suspect.

According to eyewitnesses and PBSO reports, the collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. near the 4300 block of Congress Avenue. A Ford F-250 traveling northbound struck Samad, who reportedly ran into the truck’s path while crossing Congress Avenue.

The impact left Samad lying in the outside lane of the road, and despite the efforts of emergency responders from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the crash, the driver of the Ford fled the scene, driving through the Palm Beach State College campus before heading eastbound on Lake Worth Road.

A witness who saw the incident followed the truck and captured video footage of the vehicle as it sped away. Investigators later located the suspect vehicle parked at an apartment complex in Lake Worth.

PBSO has identified a possible suspect, though their name has not been released. The investigation remains active, and authorities urge anyone with additional information to contact PBSO at 561-688-3400.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of hit-and-run crashes and the importance of driver accountability. As the community mourns the loss of Benjamin Samad, the authorities work tirelessly to bring justice to his family and loved ones.”
