DEADLY HEAD-ON COLLISION IN ST. JOSEPH COUNTY: TWO LIVES LOST, DRIVER FACES RECKLESS HOMICIDE CHARGES
St. Joseph County, MI – A devastating head-on crash on Sevison Road near Mintdale Road in Florence Township has claimed the lives of two individuals, a 60-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man from Constantine.
The tragic incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. Sunday when a Mercedes, traveling northbound, lost control and collided with a southbound pickup truck.
According to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of the Mercedes, a 22-year-old man from White Pigeon, had been attempted to be stopped by deputies for speeding on US-131 but failed to pull over, leading to a brief chase. The driver’s reckless behavior continued, resulting in the fatal crash.
The occupants of the pickup truck, who were wearing seatbelts, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Mercedes, also wearing a seatbelt, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital. Authorities report that excessive speed and the driver’s suspended license likely contributed to the accident.
