NEIKO SWESEY DEATH: AKRON DETECTIVES INVESTIGATE ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING

Akron, Ohio – Detectives in Akron are investigating the death of 25-year-old Neiko Swesey, who was shot and killed in an apartment complex on October 25. According to the Akron Police Department, evidence suggests that Swesey was not the intended target of the shooting.

On the night of the incident, officers responded to a reported shooting at an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Keys Place shortly before 10:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Swesey with a gunshot wound. Despite attempts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further investigation revealed that an unidentified person fired shots outside the apartment building, and one of the stray bullets likely went through a wall or window, fatally striking Swesey inside the apartment.

On the night of the incident, a woman was arrested for allegedly obstructing first responders and medical staff on the scene.

The Akron Police Department is urging anyone with information on the shooting to come forward and contact the Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490 or 330-375-2TIP.
