John Enright ESPN Obituary, Cause of Death: Renowned Creative Producer at ESPN, John Michael Enright, Passed Away at 34 After Courageous Battle with Cancer – Leaving Behind a Legacy of Kindness, Humility, and Excellence in Sports Broadcasting.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Michael Enright, age 34, of Farmington, CT, who succumbed to cancer on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, after a courageous six-month battle.

John was born on July 12, 1990, in Bridgeport, CT, to John Lewis and Susan McLoughlin Enright of Stratford, CT. He received his early education at St. Mark School and later graduated from Bunnell High School in Stratford.

He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Communication from Marist College, where he forged lifelong friendships and proudly participated in the intramural dodgeball team known as John Enright & His Merry Men.

Upon graduation, John achieved his dream of working at ESPN as a creative producer, where he spent 12 fulfilling years. He managed creative execution and strategy for high-profile productions, including Monday Night Football, NBA events, and SportsCenter.

John’s passion for storytelling and his commitment to teamwork were evident in his work, where he made a point to mentor entry-level employees, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. He won five Emmy Awards during his tenure, but his true legacy lies in the kindness and encouragement he offered to everyone around him.

John met his beloved wife, Amanda Wagner Enright, an animator, during his time at ESPN. They married on Cape Cod last year and shared a joyful life together, particularly cherishing their role as dog parents to their beloved pup, Frito.

A devoted sports fan, John had a special place in his heart for the New England Patriots and his cherished New York Mets. He eagerly anticipated college basketball season, relishing the excitement of March Madness.

In addition to sports, he enjoyed reading a variety of genres, from Star Wars to American history, and loved watching Marvel movies. John will be remembered for his kind-hearted spirit, infectious laugh, and remarkable humility throughout his battle with cancer.

He maintained a sweet smile and a polite demeanor, embodying fierce optimism until his very last breath. He is survived by his wife, Amanda; his parents, John and Susan; his brother, Kevin, and fiancé Samantha; his in-laws, Alan and Kathleen; his beloved dog, Frito; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in his honor be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center or the American Cancer Society. Friends are invited to greet the family on Tuesday, October 29th, from 4-7 pm at Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. Interment will be private.
