Lex Love, a dedicated and passionate Wise County sheriff’s deputy, tragically lost his life in a car crash while responding to a fatal accident on Highway 287 on Wednesday night. The 26-year-old deputy was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a wife and two young children. The community is in mourning as they remember Love as a husband, father, and friend to many.

Wise County Judge J.D. Clark expressed his sorrow and shared a personal connection with Love, having been his teacher in Bowie. Love’s law enforcement career began in Wise County, where he first worked as a jailer before attending the police academy and serving with the Decatur Police Department for several years.
