Edward Loredo, 24, Fatally Shot in DriftwoozZd Apartments Confrontation; Saniel Sanchez Jr. Charged with Murder
Edward Loredo, a 24-year-old man, was shot and killed in a confrontation at the Driftwood Apartments on Devon Drive in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Corpus Christi Police Department reported that the shooting occurred after an altercation between Loredo and another individual, later identified as 20-year-old Saniel Sanchez Jr.
Sanchez Jr. was apprehended on Saturday afternoon at Nueces County Jail, where he was already in custody for an unrelated matter, and served with a murder warrant. Senior Officer Jennifer Collier informed that the bond has been established at $1,000,000.
According to Collier, officers responded to the scene at approximately 4:19 p.m. on Friday regarding a shooting incident involving injuries. Upon arrival, first responders located Loredo, who had succumbed to a gunshot wound. Preliminary investigations indicated that Loredo and Sanchez Jr. had engaged in a dispute prior to the shooting.
Authorities do not consider this incident to be a random act of violence, as it appears that the two individuals were acquainted. Detectives from the Robbery and Homicide Unit are continuing their investigation into this matter.
Residents of the Driftwood Apartments expressed their distress on Friday after the discovery of Loredo’s body following the confrontation at the complex. Norma Pena, a housekeeper at the apartment complex, noted that this is not the first instance of violence occurring on the premises.
Pena recounted that she was outside when she heard the gunfire. “I turned around and called 911, providing them with a description and all necessary details,” she stated. “You could hear them arguing, saying, ‘look what you did, look what you did.’”
The housekeeper expressed her concerns for her own safety as well as that of the other residents. “We have children playing in this area, and these individuals are out of control,” Pena added.
The incident has raised concerns about safety and security in the area. The police are working to ensure that the community feels safe and that justice is served.
