Brycen C. Ronk, a 21-year-old man from Fort Riley, has been identified as the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on I-70 on Thursday. The crash resulted in significant traffic delays and involved a semi-truck.
The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) issued a crash log on Friday, August 2, regarding a crash reported around 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, near Junction City on I-70. A KTM RC390 motorcycle was getting onto eastbound I-70 at mile-marker 299 “at a high rate of speed” on the on-ramp.
The motorcyclist, identified as Brycen C. Ronk, passed a vehicle on the right shoulder of the ramp before swerving back into the eastbound lane of I-70. Ronk continued to swerve and crossed over the center line, entering the westbound lanes of the highway.
The motorcycle then collided with a semi-truck head-on. Ronk suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the crash.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and the KHP is urging anyone with information to come forward. The crash log indicates that Ronk’s speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
As news of Ronk’s passing spread, friends and family took to social media to express their condolences and share memories of his life. The community is shocked and saddened by the sudden loss of Ronk, and many are struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.
The incident has raised concerns about safety on the roads, particularly for motorcyclists. The KHP is urging drivers to exercise caution and attention while driving, especially in areas with high traffic volume.
As the investigation continues, the community is coming together to support the family of Ronk during this difficult time. A candlelight vigil is being organized to honor his memory and provide a space for loved ones to grieve.
In addition to the vigil, a fundraising campaign has been set up to support the family with funeral expenses and other needs. The community is rallying around the family to show support and solidarity.
The incident has also raised concerns about the welfare of motorcyclists on the roads and the need for increased measures to prevent accidents. The KHP is working to address these concerns and ensure that the community feels safe.
