Keith W. Evener Death: Keith W. Evener, Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend, Passes Away Unexpectedly at 69.

Keith W. Evener, a beloved member of his community and a devoted family man, passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2024, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 69. His passing has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

Keith was born on July 20, 1954, in Athens County, Ohio, to Mary Josephine Willis Evener and Donald James Evener. He grew up in the area, forging lifelong friendships and earning a reputation as someone always ready with a joke and a helping hand. Keith was a graduate of Federal Hocking High School and from a young age, he was known for his strong work ethic, starting work at a local service station in Amesville and later at Appalachian Tire in Athens, Ohio.

Keith was passionate about hunting, fishing, and farming. He passed on his love for the outdoors to his children, grandchildren, and nephew, teaching them the art of hunting while emphasizing safety and respect for nature. Keith and his wife, Rebecca Powell Evener, owned and operated Evener’s Farm Equipment, where he showcased his skills as a tractor and implement mechanic.

Keith was a man of faith, and one of his proudest moments was his decision to dedicate his life to Christ and be baptized in Federal Creek in Amesville. He was an active member of McDougal Church, where he found joy in worship and fellowship with his church community.

Above all, Keith cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Rebecca; his children, Keith Wayne II (Stephanie) Evener and Jennifer Ruth (Buddy Vore) Evener; grandchildren Isabelle (Brady) Jones, Preston (Jalynn) Evener, Elyas (Sarah) Kochis, Braeden Evener, Ashton (AKA Chuckie) Kochis, Rhett Evener, and great-grandson Brantley (Stinky) Jones.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Bishopville Church of Christ, with Stanley Strode officiating. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the church on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to McDougal Church.

Following the services, friends and family are invited to gather for a potluck dinner and fellowship at the Bishopville Church of Christ, honoring Keith’s memory and the impact he had on so many lives.
