Joshua Hulse Death: Joshua Hulse, 22, Killed in Fatal Collision on Interstate 70, Two Others Injured, Driver of Freightliner Cascadia Tractor-Trailer Unharmed.

A fatal collision occurred on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 at mile marker 117.4 on July 9, 2024, around 9:25 a.m., resulting in the tragic death of 22-year-old Joshua Hulse from Columbia. The crash involved a 2014 Chevrolet Impala driven by Hulse and a 2024 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer driven by 36-year-old Derson Jeanlouis from Brandon, Florida.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Hulse’s Chevrolet Impala was heading east when it struck the rear of the slowing Freightliner, causing the Impala to become stuck under the trailer of the tractor-trailer. Unfortunately, Joshua Hulse was declared deceased at the scene by Boone County Medical Examiner Stacey Hunk at 9:25 a.m. His body was transported to the Boone County Medical Examiner’s office for further examination.

The two occupants of the Impala, 21-year-old Johnathan Wolfe from Sturgeon and 23-year-old Austin Pitford from Ozark, suffered minor injuries and were taken by University Ambulance to University Hospital. Both Wolfe and Pitford were wearing seat belts during the accident, which likely reduced the severity of their injuries.

Derson Jeanlouis, the driver of the Freightliner, was unharmed in the collision, and his vehicle sustained only minor damage. The Freightliner was removed from the scene by I-70 Towing. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, but it appears that Hulse’s vehicle struck the rear of the slowing tractor-trailer, resulting in the fatal collision.

This incident marks the first fatality in July for Troop F and the 21st fatality in 2024. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is urging drivers to exercise caution and attention while driving, especially on high-speed highways like Interstate 70.

Joshua Hulse’s tragic death has left a community in mourning, and his family and friends are grieving the loss of a young life. The two injured occupants of the Impala are recovering from their injuries, and their families are grateful for their survival.

The accident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to be vigilant and cautious while driving. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is working to determine the exact cause of the accident and to prevent similar incidents in the future.

In conclusion, Joshua Hulse’s death is a tragic reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of road safety. His memory will live on through the lives he touched, and his legacy will be a reminder of the importance of driving safely and responsibly. May he rest in peace, and may his memory continue to be a blessing to all who knew him.
