Lener Carrasco Salgado, Nayeli Hernandez Obituary – Two individuals perished, and another remains in critical condition following a collision approximately six miles south of Sauk Centre.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the junction of Highway 71 and County Road 28 at around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday due to a crash involving a pickup truck and an SUV.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that the truck was traveling south on the highway, while the SUV was heading east on the county road when the two vehicles collided.
As per the accident report, two passengers in the SUV, Lener Carrasco Salgado, aged 30 from Melrose, and Nayeli Hernandez, aged 20 from Sauk Centre, lost their lives at the scene.
The driver, Elver Haniel Hernandez Carcamo, aged 23, was swiftly transported to CentraCare St. Cloud Hospital with severe injuries. The 54-year-old truck driver from Sauk Centre also sustained injuries but is anticipated to make a full recovery.
