Sergeant Gene Bass Obituary – Crowley ISD confirmed on Saturday that Master Sergeant Gene Bass was the victim in a fatal shooting in Fort Worth.
The district informed North Crowley High School families via email, where MSGT Bass served as a JROTC instructor. The announcement expressed deep sadness, especially for those who knew MSGT Bass personally.
A video released by the district showcased MSGT Bass’s dedication to the JROTC program, highlighting his impact as a beloved staff member at NCHS. Crowley ISD described him as an exceptional educator and colleague, emphasizing the positive influence he had on students and staff.
The tragic incident occurred on Friday around 2:25 p.m. in Fort Worth, resulting in MSGT Bass’s death. Fort Worth PD discovered him with fatal gunshot wounds in a front yard on Chesapeake Bay Drive. Despite efforts by medical personnel, he could not be saved.
Authorities later arrested a family member of the victim, identified as Xavier Bass, in Valdosta, Ga. The suspect allegedly approached the victim’s residence,
fired multiple shots, and fled the scene. Xavier Bass was taken into custody by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and is currently held with charges related to Tarrant Co. TX.
