Edel Quintero Obituary, – The public identification of the 16-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed during a police fundraising carnival in Palms has been released.
The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday near Venice Boulevard and Keystone Avenue. Prior to the stabbing, the boy had been involved in a fight with several other teenagers.
The suspect, described as a male between the ages of 15 and 20, fled the scene on foot. Sadly, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Angeles Police Department believes the attack was gang-related.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has identified the victim as Edel Quintero. The stabbing took place on the second day of the Palms Community Weekend and Summer Carnival, which the Pacific Area Boosters Association, the Motor Avenue Association, and City Council District 5 co-hosted.
The event aimed to support the LAPD’s Pacific Division and raise funds for the LAPD Pacific Cadet/Junior Cadet programs, as well as the needs of the Pacific Division officers and station.
Despite a significant police presence, LAPD Officer Christian Faulkner acknowledged that there are limitations to covering every area.
