Rishanna J. Wellington: Beloved Auburn Resident and Pizzaiolo Passes Away at 38 After Courageous Battle with Pancreatic Cancer

Rishanna J. Wellington, a vibrant and dedicated member of the Auburn community, lost her valiant fight against pancreatic cancer on June 22, 2024, at the age of 38. Surrounded by her loving family at Auburn Community Hospital, Rishanna’s passing has left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew her.

With her infectious energy and bright smile, Rishanna was a beloved fixture at Angelo’s Pizzeria, where she poured her heart and soul into crafting pizzas that reflected her love and dedication to her craft. Her passion for cooking and generosity towards others were hallmarks of her personality, always ensuring that those around her were well-fed and cared for.

Rishanna’s family, including her three children, Malik, Amir, and Elaina, were the center of her universe, and she was often seen cheering them on at sporting events or volunteering her time. Her parents, Debbie and Richard Wellington, sisters Michala and Andrea, and extended family members were also integral to her life, along with her loyal pet, Miley.

The community is mourning the loss of Rishanna, who was a true pillar of strength and kindness. Her unwavering concern for others and her fiery enthusiasm for cooking will be deeply missed. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Auburn Upstate Cancer Center and Auburn Memorial Hospital staff for their compassion and sensitivity throughout her treatment.

Rishanna is survived by her children, parents, sisters, nieces, nephew, grandmother, uncle, aunt, favorite cousin, and numerous special friends who will cherish her memory. Funeral arrangements are being held at Pettigrass Funeral Home on Friday, June 28th, with calling hours from 4 to 6 p.m. and a memorial service immediately following at 6:00 p.m.

Rishanna’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched, and her family and friends will continue to celebrate her life and spirit. Her courageous battle against pancreatic cancer may have ended, but her impact on the Auburn community will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Auburn Upstate Cancer Center in Rishanna’s name, to support future patients and families affected by cancer.

As the community comes together to mourn the loss of Rishanna J. Wellington, her memory will be honored through the countless stories, laughter, and tears shared by those who loved her. Rest in peace, dear Rishanna. Your pizzaiolo spirit will live on in our hearts.
