Mathue O’Malley Obituary – The individual who was shot and killed by a Youngstown City Police Officer on Thursday has been identified by the Mahoning County coroner.

The deceased has been identified as Mathue O’Malley, a 27-year-old male. The shooting occurred after a report of a domestic violence situation.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Youngstown Police Department’s Office of Internal Affairs are currently investigating the incident, which took place on the West Side of the city.

Two individuals, including the Youngstown Police Officer, were transported to the hospital as a result of the shooting. The incident occurred following a call regarding a domestic violence situation on South Maryland Avenue.

As per the police department’s policy, the officers involved have been placed on leave, and the Youngstown Police Department’s Office of Internal Affairs is ensuring that all departmental rules were followed.

The investigation is being handled by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
