Pedro Rivera Ruiz, Nathaniel Perez Obituary

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office has identified the two men who were killed in a crash in south Modesto early Sunday.

Pedro Rivera Ruiz, 19, and Nathaniel Perez, 20, both residents of Modesto, were the victims of the single-car crash that occurred at the intersection of South Carpenter and West Hatch roads around 1:30 a.m.

The driver of a 2008 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Carpenter when the vehicle collided with a raised concrete island and a signal light pole.

Both occupants were ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. It is still unclear which of the young men was driving at the time of the accident.

The Modesto Police Department is currently investigating the crash, and anyone with information is urged to contact Officer Justin Beverson of the Traffic Safety Unit at Beversonj@modestopd.com or 209-572-9592.

While there is limited information available about Nathaniel Perez, a GoFundMe account has been set up to assist with funeral expenses for Pedro Rivera Ruiz, describing him as a beloved son, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend known for his sweet and joyful nature.
