The woman who was killed in a shooting at a Waffle House in northeast Austin early Saturday morning has been identified by the police.

Tykeisha Lewis, aged 25, was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Waffle House located at 12304 Dessau Road around 6 a.m. on June 8. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The Austin Police Department reported that the shooting took place following an altercation between the group Lewis was with and another group of males in the parking lot. The suspects opened fire, injuring Lewis and another female. The second victim was also taken to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.

After the incident, the male suspects fled the scene. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to reach out to APD’s homicide tip line at 512-477-3588 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest.

This shooting is currently under investigation as Austin’s 25th homicide of 2024.
