A man met his demise in a tragic collision involving three vehicles, where he was thrown from his motorcycle and subsequently struck by a semi-truck. The incident, as detailed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO), unfolded on U.S. Highway 27.
According to the crash report from PBSO, the sequence of events began with one motorcyclist navigating the left lane of the highway, while a semi-truck trailed slightly behind in the right lane. Concurrently, another motorcyclist, identified as Virgil Robinson, approached from behind, sandwiched between the semi-truck and the preceding motorcycle.
The report indicates that a destabilization occurred with Robinson’s motorcycle, resulting in a wheel wobble that led to its collision with the rear of the motorcycle ahead. This collision had catastrophic consequences: Robinson, aged 51, was forcefully ejected from his motorcycle and ended up beneath the massive semi-truck.
Tragically, Robinson succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the collision, while the second motorcyclist sustained severe injuries and was promptly transported to the hospital for urgent medical attention. Remarkably, the driver of the semi-truck emerged from the ordeal unscathed, as revealed by PBSO’s crash report.
