Cedric Gonzalez Obituary
The man who lost his life in a two-vehicle collision on Thursday night has been identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office. Cedric Gonzalez, a 21-year-old resident of Fresno, tragically passed away when his sedan became trapped under a big rig.
The California Highway Patrol confirmed that Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision occurred at 9:47 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 41 and South Avenue near Easton.
According to CHP, a 57-year-old individual was driving a semi truck loaded with grapefruit and had stopped in the westbound lane of South Avenue at the intersection, waiting to make a left turn.
After crossing the northbound lanes, the driver stopped in the intersection to allow southbound traffic to pass before completing the left turn.
Unfortunately, the trailer blocked the No. 1 northbound lane of Highway 41, leading to the collision with Gonzalez’s Nissan as he was traveling northbound. Gonzalez failed to change lanes before colliding with the left rear side of the semi.
Tragically, Gonzalez was not wearing his seat belt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The California Highway Patrol mentioned that it is currently unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
