Ellis Smith killed in stabbing incident on May 2, Ibrahim Ocal Ottawa arrested

According to the Ottawa police, they have filed a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of a high school student that occurred last week.

The Nepean police department received a dispatch at approximately noon on May 2 to the 100 block of Constellation Drive, where they discovered a teenager who was in severe condition.

The 15-year-old, who was identified by the police as Ellis Smith on Tuesday, was sent to the hospital with injuries that were considered to be life-threatening.

A spokeswoman for the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board announced over the weekend that the victim, who had attended Sir Guy Carleton Secondary School, which is located in close proximity to the school, had passed away.

After first being charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon, the Ottawa police department said on Tuesday evening that 18-year-old Ibrahim Ocal has been charged with first-degree murder. This comes after Ocal was initially charged with both of those offenses.

Neither Ocal’s name nor the charges that he was facing had been made public by the police in the past. The court hearing for Ocal is set to take place on Wednesday.
