MPD Increases Reward to $50,000 in Search for Answers in Tragic Shooting Death of 3-Year-Old Ty’ah Settles in Southeast DC

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is intensifying its search for answers in the devastating shooting death of 3-year-old Ty’ah Settles in Southeast DC last week. To aid in the investigation, MPD has increased the reward amount to $50,000 for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Ty’ah was found at a nearby fire station in the 2400 block of Irving Street, Southeast, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite being airlifted to a local hospital, the child was pronounced dead.

According to MPD’s preliminary investigation, Ty’ah was inside a vehicle in the 2300 block of Hartford Street at the time of the shooting. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The original reward of $25,000 has been boosted by an additional $10,000 from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and $15,000 from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), bringing the total possible reward amount to $50,000.
