Sgt. Colin Arslanbas Obituary, U.S. Marine Dies in Parachute Accident at Camp

Sgt. Colin Arslanbas Obituary :

The Marine Corps confirmed that Sgt. Colin Arslanbas was involved in a parachute accident during the 24th MEU’s Composite Unit Training Exercise, as stated by a spokesperson for II MEF in an email to USNI News.

Arslanbas passed away on April 18th while the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit was engaged in nighttime training.

Col. Todd Mahar, the commanding officer of the 24th MEU, expressed condolences to Arslanbas’ family, recognizing him as an exceptional Marine and leader.

Originally from Missouri, Arslanbas enlisted in the Marine Corps in March 2020 and was promoted to sergeant earlier this month.

He served as a Reconnaissance Marine with the Maritime Special Purpose Force at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, earning accolades such as the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.

The Marine Corps is currently investigating the accident, which occurred in Carteret County, N.C., according to the initial news release issued last week.
