SAG-AFTRA mourns the loss of Leslie Shreve, a longtime former National Board member and current New York Local Board member, who passed away on March 31, 2024, at the age of 79. A Lifetime of Service
Leslie Shreve’s journey with SAG-AFTRA began in 1970 when she joined SAG, followed by AFTRA in 1975. Her commitment to union leadership was unwavering, spanning more than 40 years. Shreve’s tenure included serving as an AFTRA National Board member from 1980 and later joining the Screen Actors Guild’s National Board in 1981. She continued to serve on the SAG-AFTRA National Board following the merger in 2012 until 2019.
A Champion for Women and the Arts
Recognized as a performer, altruist, and activist, Leslie Shreve was a beacon of empowerment for women in the performing arts. In addition to her union leadership, Leslie Shreve enjoyed a fulfilling professional career as an actor, announcer, voiceover artist, and makeup artist. Her talent was recognized with a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Makeup Design in 1998. Shreve’s contributions extended to organizations such as IATSE Local 798, the Episcopal Actors Guild, and The Lambs, where she left an indelible mark.
