David James Hicks, 70, went to be with the Lord in peace at his Robbinsville, North Carolina, home on March 22, 2024. David was the cherished son of the late Royal Aston Hicks and Sue Hicks Queen. He was born in Andrews, North Carolina, on May 14, 1953.
Treasured Family
David leaves behind a loving legacy that is treasured by his two sons, Patrick Wayne Hicks and David Aston Hicks, who are all residents of Robbinsville, North Carolina. He was married to Violet for 51 years. Along with four loving sisters-in-law, he is also survived by his mother, Sue Hicks Queen, and his sisters, Brenda Jackson and Susie Hicks, who are both from the Peachtree community.
Warmly Remembered
Josie Violet Hicks, Patrick Dean Hicks, and Braxton Cole Hicks, David’s grandchildren, will sadly miss their “Dada.” Many nieces, nephews, and other family members who had special times with him are left behind by him.
An Enthusiastic Soul
David was well-known for having a great love of the great outdoors, especially horses and mules, throughout his life. He loved caring for his garden and greenhouse, and he looked forward to his yearly trips on the Western NC wagon train. But the most important thing that brought him the most joy was the time he got to spend with his grandchildren.

David’s family and friends will cherish his memory in honor of his extraordinary life. His steadfast love and loyalty to his family, his love of the outdoors, and his upbeat attitude will always be cherished.

Formal services are not scheduled at this time as the family remembers the special moments they had with David. He will always be a beacon of love and light in their hearts, living on eternally.
David James Hicks is leaving us, and we pray that he finds eternal peace in the consoling arms of the Lord. Even though he isn’t here to walk beside us anymore, his memory will always be a beacon of hope, brightening our way and filling our hearts with the love he gave so freely.
