Robert Morton Obituary, Death, San Antonio, TX, Director Of Healthy Living At H-E-B Has Passed Away

Robert “Bob” Gene Morton, age 73, passed away on March 14, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri, following a brief illness. He was a devoted civic leader, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, and he had lived in O’Fallon his whole life. While Bob was growing up in O’Fallon, he attended OTHS and graduated in 1968. He took his education to the next level at SIUE.

As a member of the third generation, he became a member of the family firm, Bob Morton Construction, and worked in the residential construction industry in O’Fallon for close toward twenty years. In addition to working as a substitute teacher in Triad, he spent a few years working as an agent for Equitable Insurance. During his time at SIUE, he advanced his education to the next level. As a member of the third generation, he joined the family business, Bob Morton building, and worked in the residential building sector in O’Fallon for close to twenty years.

He was a member of the family enterprise. Bob later worked as a long-haul truck driver, and he retired in 1992 from Colonial Cake Company, a part of Butter Krust Bakery, where he had been employed as a transportation supervisor. During his career, Bob traversed the country. NASCAR was his favorite sport, and he looked forward to spending time with his family at their deer lease. The time that he spent in Rockport, close to his family, was another thing that he treasured.

His daughter, Sandra Reando, as well as his granddaughters, Brandi Pick (and her husband, Josh) and April Larsh (and her husband, Perrin), as well as his great-grandchildren Samuel and Sydney Pick, as well as Wyatt, Cody, and Dillon Larsh, as well as his sister, Bobbie Jean Magers, will miss him terribly. A.F. & A.M. Lodge 576, Ainad Shriners, O’Fallon Boosters, Blessed Savior Lutheran Church, and the O’Fallon Township Democratic Club were all organizations that Bob was also a member of and actively participated in.

A great community supporter, a loyal follower of the St. Louis Cardinals, a very fun and loving family man, and the best Grandpa “Bob-Bob,” Bob will be remembered for all time as a man who was always there for his family.
Bob’s father, Robert Eugene Morton, as well as his mother, Margaret, nee White, (George) Thompson, as well as his father and mother-in-law, Charles and Jackie Stafford, as well as his grandparents, Harry and Fannie Morton, and Jemima, nee Carson, White, as well as his dogs, KC, Hershey, and Lambo, all passed away before him.

Surviving members of his family include his wife Charla, nee Stafford Morton of O’Fallon, whom he married on December 9, 1978 (after a courtship that lasted for six months); his children Christy Spicer of Shiloh, Matthew Morton of O’Fallon, and Mark Morton of O’Fallon; his grandchildren Braedon and Nolan Spicer, Cohen and Ava Morton, and Charlie, Jackson, and Claire Morton; his sister Beverly “Pete” (Rick Wallace) Costello of Wentzville, Missouri; his brother Randy Morton of Westfield, Indiana; his stepmother Cindy Morton of O’Fallon; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins, whom he cherished spending time with and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
