David Thorne Obituary, Death, A Heartfelt Farewell To David Thorne

The demise of Corporal David Thorne is something that the Royal Air Force Lossiemouth is deeply saddened to share. At the time of his passing, Corporal Thorne, who was 43 years old, had been serving in the Royal Air Force for 26 years as a very accomplished Aircraft Technician Mechanical.

He was assigned to 1 Fighter Squadron throughout his time in the military. David was the name that his family called him, Dave was the name that his coworkers called him, and “Our Dai” was the name that his friends in Wales called him.

Corporal Thorne was married and had three children and two grandkids. And while the Royal Air Force will grieve his departure terribly, everyone at RAF Lossiemouth is thinking about his wife Michelle, his mother Sally, his father Graham, his children Aaron, Katy, and Ash, and his grandchildren Lauren and Miles.

His passing will be deeply mourned by the RAF. David was able to accomplish a great deal throughout his time in the Royal Air Force RAF, and as a result of his extensive contributions, he was recently chosen for promotion to the rank of Sergeant. This accomplishment was a reflection of his professionalism, leadership, and exceptional abilities as an aircraft technician.

On the other hand, he was a family man first and foremost, and this was proved when he declined an earlier promotion opportunity since it would have required him to leave Moray, a place that he and his family cherished and had planned to remain in.

On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, David was laid to rest as a result of a road traffic accident that occurred on the A96. He was on leave and spending valuable time with his family at the time of his passing.
