On November 6, the 53-year-old Indianapolis resident Jeffrey Justin Tracey, who was originally of Seymour, passed away. The town is in mourning. Vietnam War veteran Jeffrey stood out for his bravery and received two Purple Hearts from the Army for his service.

As a former commander of American Legion Post 89, his dedication to his nation was evident throughout the building, creating a lasting impression on his fellow soldiers and the surrounding community.

Jeffrey committed his life to serving community organisations and other veterans, having come from a family of servants. He was a devoted follower of the principles of friendship, loyalty, and selflessness and a proud member of the Eagles Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Knights of Columbus. His impact on people’s lives was felt long after he left the battlefield, as his steadfast commitment and compassion shaped them.

His presence in the parish was evidence of his enduring spirituality and dedication to helping others, which mirrored the fundamental values of his upbringing.

Future generations will be motivated by Jeffrey’s legacy of selflessness and dedication. To honour his lifelong dedication to promoting causes near and dear to his heart, memorial contributions may be sent in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society, National Kidney Foundation, or St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Seymour.
