Graduating from the Interlochen Arts Academy in 1984, he showed early promise as a creative mind. Summers spent working at Betsie Bay Furniture and Norv Boyd Chevy/Buick/Olds in Frankfort not only provided valuable experience but also shaped his work ethic.
Educational Pursuits
Andrew pursued higher education at the Woodbury Institute in Los Angeles and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His focus on arts design, particularly metal sculpting, led to the creation of cherished keepsake items. These formative years laid the groundwork for a career that seamlessly blended creativity with practicality. Married to Anna Nava from 1998 to 2005 in Chicago, Andrew made a name for himself in the design world. He designed hats for Glorious Hats, attracting attention from none other than Oprah, who became a regular customer. Transitioning from design to car sales, he worked at Bert Weinman Ford and later ventured into retail sales at Carson Pirie Scott. It was here that he cultivated his unique fashion sense.
Relocation to Houston
In 2005, Andrew moved to Houston, Texas, embarking on a new chapter in his life. He found employment in demolition, contributed to the team at Pacesetters, and eventually took on a managerial role in transitional housing. This period reflected Andrew’s adaptability and resilience in the face of changing circumstances. Andrew will be fondly remembered for his infectious sense of humor, deep love for animals, and his reputation as a hardworking individual. His ability to infuse creativity into everything he pursued left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing him. Survived by Family:
Andrew leaves behind a legacy that extends beyond his creative endeavors. He is survived by his 12-year-old son, Bentley, from London, England, his mother Mary Ann Boyd, sisters Debra Anderson and Janine (Craig) Kielty, brothers Greg (Darlene), Scott (Viola), and Eugene, along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Norval Boyd and sister Maureen Boyd. A burial at the Crystal Lake Township Cemetery and a celebration of Andrew’s life will take place at a later date. These events will provide an opportunity for family and friends to come together, share memories, and find solace in each other’s company.
