On Tuesday, January 16, 2024, in the state of Colorado, Senior Airman Marcus Anthony Smiley, who was 29 years old and from St. Louis, Missouri, passed away. The devoted parents of Marcus Smiley, Wayne and Aisel (Alcedo) Smiley, welcomed their son into the world on May 25, 1994 in Agana, Guam.
You may find them in O’Fallon, Illinois. His brother, Dominic Smiley, who resides in Edwardsville, Illinois, as well as ten aunts, three uncles, and a large number of cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews, are the only ones who are left to cherish his memory.
Both of his maternal grandparents, Guadalupe Alcedo and Roberto Alcedo, as well as his aunt, Naomi Mills, passed away before him. His paternal grandparents, Janie Smiley and Cornelius Courtland, were also among those who passed away before him. With a high school diploma from O’Fallon Township, Marcus graduated in the year 2012. This was followed by his enrollment at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he started his studies towards earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. After some time, he fulfilled his desire to serve his nation by enrolling in the Illinois Air National Guard.
Prior to that, he worked as a Repair and Reclamation Journeyman and as an Apprentice for the Maintenance Operations Controller position. It was his current position as an Aircraft Inspection Journeyman that he was working in.
A short while ago, he finished his Bachelor of Arts degree, with a concentration in Economics and a minor in Business Administration respectively.
It was impossible for Marcus to have a dull weekend because he possessed an adventurous spirit. He had a passion for exploring new places and travelling. His love of adventure provided him with countless experiences, friendships that lasted a lifetime, and stories that he delighted in telling to the people he truly cared about.
Marcus was a devoted supporter of the Raiders, and he was also a fan of the Atlanta Braves. However, his great, outgoing character and love of life will live on in their hearts forever. His passing has left a devastating vacuum for his family, but they will always remember him.
