As representatives of the Elliot Lake Minor Hockey Association, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Coulis family during this trying time. We are understanding that this is a tough time for them.
It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the unexpected demise of one of our former players, Matthew Coulis. We are doing so when we relay this information. The news of his passing came as a total and utter shock to everyone.
Matt was a member of the team that makes up our organisation for a number of years. He continued to serve in this capacity throughout the years. During the 2016-2017 season, he was a member of the Elliot Lake Wildcats Midget Hockey Team and engaged in the team’s activities as a participant.
A group of players who not only ended up triumphing in the NOHA TOC Championship but also went on to compete for us in the OHF Championship. What an incredible achievement it is today!
The reason why we will remember Matt is because of his enthusiasm for the game that we all like, and this is the reason why we will take his memory with us.
In addition to being one of the guys who put in the greatest effort, he was also one of the athletes who was the easiest to train. He had a smile that was contagious, and he also had a good sense of humour. Both of these qualities were present in him.
