The sorrowful echoes of loss reverberate throughout our community as we say goodbye to a brilliant individual, John Bowden. His leaving creates a hole that spans multiple aspects of our company and beyond. John, a dynamic leader, not only served as our captain but also as chairman and president, creating a lasting impression on our community.
His legacy goes well beyond the titles he held. John’s commitment to rowing reached new heights when he proudly represented the West of England Amateur Rowing Association (WEARA) and even competed at the famed Henley Regatta. His voyage through the waves was more than simply trophies and awards; it demonstrated his undying dedication and passion for the sport.
John’s impact on our community extended beyond his sports achievements. He was a person of character who inspired everyone who had the opportunity to meet him. The news of his death fills us with sadness as we remember an incredible man whose presence provided tremendous value to our organization.
In honor and celebration of John Bowden’s life, his funeral will be place on Wednesday, January 31, at 1:30 p.m. at St Saviours Church in Dartmouth. It is time for our community to join together and support one another as we say our final goodbyes to a beloved character.
As we meet to honor John’s legacy, let us remember the times we enjoyed, the wins we achieved, and the inspiration he provided. His absence will be deeply lamented, but his legacy will live on through the countless people he impacted. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the sounds of the seas he once skillfully and passionately navigated.
