At the Vassar Brothers Medical Centre in Poughkeepsie, on Thursday, September 21, 2006, Jenny V. Patros, who resided in the Town of Wappinger, passed away and went to rest. She was eighty years old. Her birth took place on October 27, 1925 in Johnson City, New York, and she was the daughter of George and Mary Courlas Vahamikos, who have now passed away. Jenny was a student at Johnson City Schools, from which she finally graduated. In Johnson City, on the 20th of June in 1948, she tied the knot with Theodore Patros. At home, Mr. Patros continues to live.
Jenny attended the Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church in Poughkeepsie (where she was a member). She was actively involved in the church, participating in activities like as singing in the choir and assisting with the celebrations by taking part in the creation of her famous pastries.
As a former member of the Daughters of Penelope, she was also associated with the Lunch Box in Poughkeepsie, volunteered with the American Heart Association, and was a member of the Philptochos Society. She was also a member of the American Heart Association.
Her husband of 58 years, Theodore Patros, is among those who survive her. She is also survived by her sons, John Patros and Peter Patros, both of Syracuse; her brother, Thomas “Ange” Vahamikos, of Charlotte, North Carolina; her sister, Fanny Anthony, of Cortland, New York; one grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
On Monday, September 25, 2006, the family will be present at Straub Funeral Home, located at 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, New York 12590, to greet their guests from 2:00 to 4:00 and from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. On Tuesday, September 26, at nine o’clock in the morning, a funeral service will be performed at the Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church, which is located at 140 South Grand Avenue in Poughkeepsie.
