Eyewitness stories provide a vivid description of the chaotic situation. For example, Abby Bolter claimed that she heard a “large bang” followed by shouting about the incident. Initially, she mistook it for fireworks; however, she quickly became aware of the gravity of the situation as flames and smoke billowed into the night sky, reaching heights of around 200 feet. The urgent nature of the fire, combined with its intensity, pushed emergency personnel to respond in a timely manner.
The spokesperson for the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Neil Davies, expressed his gratitude for the combined efforts of all of the responders who tried to control the fire despite the difficult conditions they were presented with. During the crisis management process, it was essential for the fire department, police department, ambulance service, Natural Resources Wales, National Grid, and Bridgend Council to work together and coordinate their efforts.
In spite of the fact that roads in the surrounding were shut off for the “foreseeable” future, South Wales Police continued to keep a presence at the scene and urged drivers to avoid the general vicinity.
Because of the influence that the fire had on the roads and infrastructure in the area, an advice was issued to homeowners advising them to keep their windows closed due to potential worries about the air quality.
The ferocity of the fire and the speed with which it spread aroused concerns about the safety of companies located in the surrounding area. Thankfully, the efforts of the fire crews stopped the fire from spreading to the establishments that were located in the surrounding surrounding area.
