Ann Buchfinck Obituary, Death And Funeral Details

In the presence of her two children, Ann Lee (Kaltenbach) (Smith) Buchfinck, who was a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, departed this world on November 23, 2023, in the city of Culver City, California. The 20th of May, 1944 found Ann being born in Columbus, Ohio. She attended Upper Arlington High School and graduated with the class of 1962. She received her Registered Nurse degree in 1965 after completing her studies at the Riverside-White Cross School of Nursing.

Columbus, Houston, Texas, and Huntsville, Alabama were all places where Ann worked as a nurse. After some time, she moved into the management of health insurance agencies. Following her departure from Huntsville, she relocated to the panhandle of Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia until eventually making her way back to Columbus in 2006. Ann started her “third act” by working at Fresh Market, first in Virginia Beach and then in Columbus. Even when she “retired,” she continued to come in to assist on busy days at the store.

It was her job to work as a cashier and in a variety of departments throughout the business. Travelling and playing card and board games were two of Ann’s favourite activities. She was known to have a spirit of adventure and frequently travelled to Los Angeles and Costa Rica in order to spend time with her grandchildren and younger children. Cape Hatteras, which is located on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, was by far among her most preferred destinations to visit.

When Ann was with her friends and her second husband, Lloyd, she also enjoyed going to the theatre and participating in musicals. Numerous times, in a number of different states, she attended performances of Phantom of the Opera.

During the summer of 2022, she relocated to Culver City, where she encountered new people, participated in new games, and cherished the opportunity to see breathtaking sunsets from the balcony of her apartment on the third level.

David Smith, Ann’s first husband, and Lloyd Buchfinck, her second husband, both passed away before Ann as a result of their respective deaths. Her son, Aaron Smith, her daughter-in-law, Megumi, and her grandson, Noah, all of Culver City, California, as well as her daughter, Amy Smith-Gonzalez, her son-in-law, José Antonio González Ugalde, and her grandsons, Ezra and Emerson, all of Heredia, Costa Rica, are among those who are able to carry on her legacy.
