Wilma Ann Ryken Obituary, Death Cause – In the heart of Iowa, on March 13, 1935, Wilma Ann Ryken, born to Henry and Johanna Rus, began a journey that would weave a tapestry of love, resilience, and community. A woman of strength, dedication, and boundless warmth, Wilma’s life story is a testament to the enduring power of family, faith, and an indomitable spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her.

Growing up on a farm north of Pella, Iowa, Wilma was one of seven children. Her childhood was filled with the simple joys of rural life, instilling in her a sense of hard work and an appreciation for the beauty of the land.

She attended the European III Country School and later Pella Christian High School, where she not only excelled academically but also showcased her athletic prowess as a member of the basketball team that reached the state level.

A Life United in Marriage

On March 17, 1954, Wilma took another significant step in her journey by uniting in marriage with Arnold Andrew Ryken at the First Christian Reformed Church. This union marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership, and together, they became charter members of Calvary Christian Reformed Church. Wilma’s faith played a central role in her life.

Baptized and having made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ at First Christian Reformed Church in Pella, she carried her devotion into her marriage and family life. As a member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church, Wilma actively participated in various committees, lent her support to the Calvinettes (Gems), and contributed to the community through her involvement with Coffee Break.

The Ryken household was a testament to love, laughter, and shared moments that formed the foundation of their tight-knit family.

Despite the joys of family life, Wilma faced unimaginable heartache with the loss of two sons and her husband, Arnie. The strength and resilience she exhibited during these trying times became a source of inspiration for all who knew her. It was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the depth of her love for her family.
