In a tragic and unanticipated turn of events, Carolyn E. Welch, who was 62 years old and the wife of Jerry Welch, passed suddenly on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Georgetown Community Hospital. Her parents, W.A. “Bill” Marshall and Mary Betty Marshall, had both passed away prior to her birth, she was born in Georgetown on August 14, 1961, and she was the only child of her parents.
Having the opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren was the one thing that Carolyn enjoyed more than anything else in the world. It was not unusual to find her cheering on her teammates at a gym, on a football pitch or on a golf course, and Jerry was always there to accompany her whenever she did so.
Jerry was always there to support her enthusiasm. The most significant aspects of Carolyn’s life were her family and the people she valued the most.
In her mind, nothing else was important. Her presence, her love, her cooking, and her laughter are never going to be forgotten by any of us. For all time, her absence will be keenly felt. Carolyn will be remembered with affection by her devoted husband of 44 years, Jerry Welch, her son, Justin (Ashley) Welch, her grandson, Jamison Welch, and her granddaughter, Nora Welch, all of Georgetown; her brother
William Marshall (Natalie) of Harrodsburg; her sister, Vicki Ritchie, of Cynthiana; her mother-in-law, Ruth Welch, of Mt. Sterling; her stepdaughter, Christy Wethington, Georgetown; four step-grandchildren; and a large number of other family members, friends, former co-workers, and friends of her son who she considered to be family.
On Saturday, January 20, 2024, commencing at 2:00 pm and continuing until 4:00 pm, there will be a gathering held at the Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home to commemorate the life of the individual who has passed away.
